Marie Curie Chapter

Who was Marie Curie?

Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, in Physics, and with her later win, in Chemistry, she became the first person to claim Nobel honors twice. She and her husband discovered the elements Polonium and Radium. Throughout her career, she broke down several walls put up by the patriarchy to feed into her never ending curiosity. Marie Curie died in Savoy, France, after a short illness, on July 4, 1934, leaving not only a lasting impact on both chemistry and physics but also paving a path for women in academia.

Who's teaching?

Led by two seniors at Dougherty Valley High School, Yuvika and Arushi are the Co-Directors of the We Love STEM Marie Curie Chapter. This year, they are teaching students from all over the Bay Area Competitive Math, Python, and Web Development.

These two look forward to sharing their love for STEM with the youth. They are eager to inspire and educate their new and returning students while still keeping it fun!
